Karen Bystedt ‘s art is a live testament to the intrinsic value of eclecticism in visual perspective, honoring individuality in interpretation, allowing the self to shine in position as part of a greater whole. Bystedt has created series’ that follow in Warhol’s footsteps, playing with popular culture.
Bystedt conceptualized turning Warhol into the art by inviting contemporary artist to paint on her original photographs of Andy and in doing so popularizing “Mixed Media” as an art form and making Warhol himself into the art. Her series’ include INCLUSION, KINGS KOLLECTION and THE LOST WARHOLS.
Two unique artists, Andy Warhol and Karen Bystedt are both fascinated by beauty, and determined to stir an evaluation of its ever-changing parameters and visual associations. The work thereby provides the world with a new lens with which to examine the legacy of Andy Warhol and re-evaluate the aesthetic ideal, thus challenging the modes in which it may be measured and questioning its intrinsic value itself.
